Genya Takeda, President of Sanoh Industrial today announced that Sanoh's plastic tube products will be used in the cooling cooling system of Japan's new Supercomputer 'Fugaku' which has been jointly developed by the RIKEN and Fujitsu Limited.

Fugaku has been awarded 1st Place in the following fields making it the first supercomputer to achieve this status in 4 benchmarks:

  • TOP500 performance ranking of the world’s supercomputers announced on June 22, 2020.
  • High-Performance Conjugate Gradient (HPCG)
  • HPL-AI
  • Graph500

Fugaku is aiming to have an effective application performance up to 100 times that of the K Computer, the predecessor of Fugaku. To achieve this aim, a high cooling performance is required to cool the heat generated by its vast calculation processing. Sanoh's plastic tube products for cooling water (extrusion molded and injection molded products) are utilised  in critical components of this cooling circuit.

Internally at Sanoh, this is the 1st plastic tube product that we have developed for a non-automotive customer. Sanoh has succeeded in developing a plastic tube product for the cooling of supercomputers by applying the dimensional accuracy of our precision injection molding technology, as well as the expertise gained from our years of welding technology.

Sanoh continues to make new technological developments and to increase our experience and capabilities. We will further utilise our know-how for energy saving, weight reduction and enhanced environmental measures, as we develop new and exciting products for both the automotive sector and other industries in the future.
